Publix Sub Surprise

Hello there!

Anyway I just got off vacation like a week ago from Orlando. It was fun. I'm just waiting on the pictures from Aunt Joy so I can make scrapbook pages. But let's not dwell on the past because then my entries get super long!

I was getting my sub this morning from Publix like I do every Sunday morning and the deli manager was there. Mind you I only go there once a week, just once, and she recognized me and knew what I was getting and how to make it. We chatted about Thanksgiving and Christmas and our plans. After I was finished I was surprised to notice that she charged me for half a sub instead of a whole which is what I got. I don't think this was an accident so I'm happy. See what little things can do?

QotD: Question of the Day

If you could go back in time to watch one scene from your life as an objective, outside observer, what would it be and why?

Well actually there was this scene that I always play in my head from my trip to Tallahassee. I was in a group with people I didn't know from different schools in the Teens Take Tallahassee program. We were staying in a convent, Yi was there so I was hanging out with him, his roommate, the roommates buddy, and another girl. Then another guy ran into the room and said, "The nun is coming!" The nun being the strict, rule abiding, and traditionalist Sister Abigail. Horror was etched on our faces. The rules were no girls were allowed in the boys bedroom. So me and the girl sqauted inside the closet, where, and this is important, there was a metal clothing bar with a suit hanging on a wire hanger. So rushing into the closet, 2 seconds after the door was shut she walked in. I could see her feet from the door of the closet. I tried to control my breathing, so she couldn't hear. I was so nervous. She told the boys very sternly that lights out was two hours ago and that they needed to go to bed. She was just about to turn around, when all of a sudden, my shoulder hit the suit, hanging in the closet and it squeaked as it rocked back and forth. Then, and I swear I could hear the venom in her voice, the promise that if she found us, someone was going to have there soul damned. She said, "Is there someone in the closet?" Her hand grabbed the door knob and I watched it turn, but not open. Me and the other girl sucked in our breaths. Up until this point only the other guys were talking to her, all of a sudden the dorky chinese kid who looked like he didn't belong to the group (Yi that is) said, "No. Why would there be someone in a closet? It's for clothes." He said it with such certainty. Sure in himself that what he said was true. Good liar. I think if it would have come from anyone else's mouth in the room, she would have opened the door and damned all our souls to hell, but for some discrimitory reason she took her hand off the handle and told the other guys to go to their room and left.

I wonder if I was watching a movie with an evil nun in it and the main character was about to be discovered and damned to hell if it would be as tense as a moment for me still. Watching objectively, that is.

It's nice to be rich!

Okay so I'm not exactly rich. But I just got paid today and was able to put some food in the house. On the plus side, because I wasn't able to eat, I lost eight pounds. Being a skinny bitch is fun. But I probably gained it all back today when I ate Burger King for lunch. My birthday is tomorrow and my boss lent me her truck and told me to go buy myself lunch, stupid me I chose BK which was absolutely disgusting. Someone kick me when I say to myself, "I'm hungry for anything fast food!" My arteries clogged with each bite and I swear I ate more calories than I should in 2 whole days. Plus I made me a nice healthy lunch, but my boss insisted... I think I like my sandwich and black bean soup better.

Alright enough complaining about lunch. Let's get down to the nitty gritty! My family's main goal of going to Orlando is to be the family that opens Magic Kingdom. Let me just tell you...I am all for this! I'm ready to get up at 4 in the morning and wait by the park entrance. I was even thinking can I make a bento or something for breakfast? You know so we can have family time? I dunno we are going to be in a luxury condo resort which is exciting, and it has a full kitchen, so I wonder if the family will be okay with stopping by Walmart or something so I can show off my bento skills! That would be cool. Even thought there is going to be like six of us, I'm up for the challenge!

We have decided to go to all three Disney parks Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and then Thursday we are just going to chill. But according to the family most of the time we are going to eat out so it makes me wonder if, you know I'll gain weight and it won't be evened out by the park walking. Look, all I can think of is food right now! XD My lunch was disgusting, I want to eat my other lunch, and what will I eat on my trip to Orlando! I also want to ride Soarin' I heard it was supposed to make you feel like you were flying! Which I have always wanted to do. Maybe I will even meet a cute guy or two! ;) Not just satisfied with meeting one! Of course not!

I'm going to make sure to take lots of videos with my iPhone and of course pictures. I'm also going to try and update my journal twice a day on the trip days, so I don't forget anything.

I wonder if my cousin will remember me? Joshua hasn't seen me for two years and everytime I see him he likes me but what if...this time he doesn't. It's a very well placed fear. You see my other cousin Matthew was my favorite, then one year when I went to see him, boom, he doesn't like me anymore. Well not that he doesn't like me at all. It's just not the same. Don't get me wrong, we are still family, just not best buds like we were when we were kids. Joshua is only four but I still want him to like me. lol

Going on Vacation! Yay!

I'm super excited. I have a vacation planned! I'm going to Orlando November 9th - November 12th and I'm going to hang out with my Aunt Joy and Uncle Todd. They are paying my ticket to and from there but I will be supplying my spending money. So by the time the vacation rolls around I will have around $400 to spend.

My birthday is coming up and my mom said she is going to send me a big care package which I'm super excited about because the care package is going to have sunglasses! I totally need a new pair of sunglasses because my eyes burn in the bright light! Has anyone seen my apartment? It has dark curtains to block the light. My eyes are light sensitive.

Also for Christmas I am sending Zoe my iTouch. I figure she is the only person I trust to care about it and keep it scratch free and also use it like it is supposed to be used. I actually feel horrible everytime I look at it because I no longer use it anymore.

Last thing I am really excited about, because October is going to give me three paychecks I'm going to go shopping! Food shopping that is! I have budgeted for myself to spend $200 on food. I haven't gone shopping in a few weeks so it's exciting.

Oh! And my handle bars on my bike are fixed so I will no longer crash into walls! More about this later.

Here's another video from my iPhone:

Writer's Block: Thanks to Technology…

What are some things you can do today because of technology that you couldn't do five years ago?

I love technology!

Let's take a trip down memory lane! Five years ago I was only 14 and dreaming of my first cell phone and computer. The first computer I got was a hand me down made in 2000. It had dial up on it courtesy of AOL. I was still carrying around CDs and my huge CD Player as well as those over the head headphones. My TV was 50lbs.

Now I have a nice, sleek MP3 Player, 3MP Camera, and Phone all in one device. My much faster computer is hooked up to high speed internet clocking 8MBs on a bad night. I no longer rely on CDs and my headphones are two little buds. Oh, but my TV is still 50lbs...haven't upgraded! LOL If it works, it's not broken? I love my little toys.

Don't get comfortable!

A week after Nicole told me I shouldn't get comfortable and suggested I become a R.N. I have applied to Edison College. First of all, I am not kidding myself. I do think it was a hasty decision.

I have decided that I need a jumping off point and that becoming an R.N. is not what I want to do in life. For right now though, I am going to settle with it because a R.N. will always have a job. Plus, it opens up new opportunities that I didn't think would be possible on a receptionist salary. For example, I can't go to a University because I would need to pay for housing, tuition, books, rides, and the like. Then I would need to find a receptionist position in this economy. Good luck with that one. Plus, I don't want to be dragged down by loans. With a R.N. license, I can instantly transfer to any city with a hospital, make three times more than I am currently making, and work night shits. Dream come true anyone? It will only take two years, if I succeed in all the classes, get the classes I want, and take classes during the summer. Right now I really want to finish in two years, but we will see what time hands me.

Here's the plan after getting my A.S. in Nursing: Transfer to a B.S. in Psychology program, then go to Med School and study Neurology. I'm positive right now about the Psychology part and iffy on the Med School. I'm just trying to take it one step at a time. I am planning my classes around requirements to graduate in the Nursing program and requirements to transfer into a few of the major universities in Florida. Only time and my performance in school will really tell what I will be able to do.

ZOMG! Goofy!

It's Raining, It's Pouring!

Let me start out this entry by saying, I absolutely love the rain! While I was riding the 130 bus home from work tonight, I zoned out and barely registered it was raining. The bus driver asked me seven times (I counted) if I wanted to get off inside the mall, where I wouldn't get wet, or outside. I chose outside, because from the bus it only looked like it was a light shower. I only stood out in the rain for less than 30 seconds until the 140 bus pulled around the corner and trust me when I say that it was pouring. The wind was blowing really hard I got soaked. Literally the whole back side of me (facing the rain) was soaking wet and the front of me was totally dry. The 140 bus driver chided me ad said I should have gotten off inside the mall because he would have waited for me, but I love the rain and am stuck in my ways. Only thing I didn't like was getting on the bus and freezing to death. My insides were shivering!

In my hands...is a Pocket God!

I am totally serious, I know you think I'm crazy. I love my new iPhone, plus it's nice to have internet where ever I go. I really do mean it. Another plus is since I got the 32GB version I have never had a problem with space issues yet. Have no fear though, that iPod Touch 2G that I got for my 19th birthday is still being put to good use, just not daily use. I still love it and protect it. ♥

So let's talk about how I ended up getting the iPhone. Frustrated for being charged double, I called AT&T and canceled my iPhone order and received a confirmation number. Yet, the next day, I get the iPhone terms of service and contract sent to my email. To be told my bank could not do anything to reverse the charge didn't help my situation either, but I don't blame the bank. Also, let me clarify, the charge was Pending. I had to wait four business days for the $640 charge to drop (I was only getting ONE iPhone). So to make a long story short, I am really not happy with AT&T and if I could never deal with them again, I may just die a happy camper... with iPhone in hand. I was prepared to give them a second chance though! I called an AT&T store and asked for a very specific iPhone (3GS, White, 32GB) the sales guy had the nerve to try and offer the inferior iPhone 3G 8GB version! W. T. F. How could he even think they compare?!? That put a big fat FAIL on everything AT&T, except my baby of course.

So finally, today the charge dropped and I caught the bus, rode 2 hours to the nearest Apple Store (after calling ahead multiple times, making two appointments, and begging them to save me a very specific iPhone 3GS, 32GB, White version of course) and finally the second the store opened, I was there and the sales guy was nice enough to let me unbox and unwrap my precious, I even hugged it. Then me and the sales guy geeked out for a moment and he told me when he got his first Mac Book, he hugged it too. He was actually really cool, made me want to buy something apple.

So lesson learned, screw with Apple and not AT&T.

And here, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you...the very first video shot from my iPhone 3GS!

iPhone 3GS -- I'm getting it!

Let me just say this wasn't an impulse buy. I read so many reviews of this thing. I have also been keeping up with the iPhone news feeds and what not. So anyway, I had already planned to get it, the iPhone 3GS I mean. After getting my UBC tuition deposit refund sooner than expected, I decided to jump the gun two weeks earlier than planned when I got my paycheck.

First thought I researched accessories because I had planned to spend $400, $300 on the iPhone, and $100 on accessories. I already knew I wanted the invisibleSHIELD full body. I also knew I needed a case. Then I kinda thought it was a stretch, but I wanted a good back up battery charger. I was also considering a bluetooth headset but those are expensive! Plus all I really wanted was handsfree calling, and I found out the iPhone 3GS is packaged with the Apple Earphones with Remote and Microphone. So after looking at reviews of different types of products I chose:

invisibleSHIELD full body ($20.45 with coupon code iphonepalm and S&H)

Switcheasy Colors Case (Milk) (Ordered from WirelessRage.com - $13.45 with free S&H and JMONA Tech Reviews discount code)

Just Mobile Gum Pro Battery Recharger ($59.95)

I ordered all that stuff Wednesday when I was going to order my iPhone 3GS on July 10th, and then I got my paycheck Friday...

I had planned to order it online (or over the phone) but I called an AT&T store and asked if I could just pick it up from there. I was actually told that every store within 200 miles was out of iPhone 3GS and that I should settle for the iPhone 3G. I wanted to just scream at the poor sales guy, and it wasn't helping that he wouldn't shut up, so I settled with hanging up on him.

Anyway because I would rather have my iPhone delivered to my apartment than pick it up at a store and because I wanted my activation fee waived, I decided to call AT&T and order my iPhone. I had everything written down of what I wanted in my plan and what not, it took less than 10 minutes, when we got to the payment part the computer had a hard time accepting my card, but it did go through. Then I got home, checked my back account and it was charged twice! So I called AT&T, they told me to wait until it cleared, called the bank, they said make sure AT&T says they voided it, so I called AT&T back and they said they couldn't tell me because I didn't have an account yet but to wait and check back daily to make sure it was voided. Hopefully it will work out because I could afford $300 but not $600, so it's cutting into my Rent money, conviently due in 3 days. I need it to work out. Updates soon!

Writer's Block: Tricky Questions

What is your first reaction when someone says "I need to talk to you"?

View 515 Answers

Well when they say that I probably have an idea what it's about. But I kind of dread it because the only reason I haven't talked to them about it first is because I have been putting it off. So my first reaction? A sarcastic, "Great..."
